Recording settings

Choose realistic resolution, frame rate, bitrate and segment duration.

On this page

Defaults are 1080p requested resolution, 30 FPS, 4 Mbps video, 128 kbps audio and 30-minute segments. Settings are frozen during a recording so the encoder and file lifecycle remain consistent.

How to use it

  1. For narrated slides, try 720p or 1080p at 15–30 FPS. Fast motion may need 30–60 FPS and more video bitrate.
  2. Select audio bitrate based on the source; higher bitrate is not a substitute for a good microphone.
  3. Read the hourly disk estimate, then record a short sample. Choose a shorter segment if limiting possible loss is more important than minimizing gaps.

Limits and safety

The estimate is bitrate × time ÷ 8 and excludes variable bitrate and container overhead. Requested resolution, FPS and bitrates may differ from actual browser output. Changing settings does not upscale the original screen source.
